Helmet refurbishment

I have a steady supply of original German WW1 and WW2 helmets shells that I refurbish to 'factory specs' These are for sale for buyers worldwide. I do sell refurbished helmets from time to time on my website, through Ebay and local marketplace. A steady amout goes to 'regular clients' all over the world.

The shells I refurbish are cleaned from previous (postwar) paint. They get an anti-rust treatment and are repaired if necessary. I only work on shells that have no original paint and/or decals left!

After I have the shell cleaned I paint them with paint in the exact color as was used on the item when it was made between 1916-1945. For example, I don't make shiny green helmets as the original ones were made in 'Stumpfmatt' (total matte finish). The original examples you can find that are shiny became that way due to influence of dirt, grease etc. When I age a helmet, as I sometimes do, I will mimic this effect.

Some helmets I sell have no decals, when you buy one it's your choice what decal you would like me to place (or no decal at all). The decals I use are water transfers (not stickers) and are made by the best decal supplier based in France. Placing a decal is hard to do for beginners. The decals are very thin and tear easily. They have to placed on the right spot, or the glue will leave a residue where you don't want it. For this reason I will place the decal on the helmet and don't sell them separately or include loose decals with the helmets that I sell.

When you buy a refurbished helmet, you can trust the shell to be original and the helmet to be made to the exact specs as it would be in it's time. I don't make fantasy helmets and every helmet I make is researched to have at least one original example.

Custom refurbishment

If you have your own helmet shell and would like to have it made to your wishes, I can help you. For example, you have (or want to buy) an M16 and want a Mimikri camouflage, or want your M42 made into Normandy camo with wire netting or have a M35 turned in a reissued helmet with winter camo... I made many helmets from bare shell to factory specs and then turning them into custom helmets for various customers. Some variations are quite 'standard' like a winter camo or DAK helmet, but you can also provide me with a picture of the camo/variant you want and I will make it. The only thing I cant make is rust. It will look awfully fake, since rust takes time to get the right patina.

Advice on helmets

In my years of collecting and refurbishing I've learned a lot about German helmets. If you need advice on what helmet was used in a certain period or if a helmet you own is original or counterfeit, you can contact me. It's best for me to look at it in real life, but if you are located far away you can send me some (good) pictures.
